A PICTURE A DAY 9/22/09

The dog and I went for a walk today. We both needed the exercise.

Of course, I took my camera, and got lots of pictures, but this is the most striking one I took. It also felt quite dangerous, getting it. I wanted the extreme close-up, but this was one of the biggest spiders I'd ever seen, and I wasn't sure but what it could leap off that web and onto my camera, and from there onto me! And don't tell me spiders can't jump. I've seen them do it, and if there were a Bug Olympics spiders would win over everyone but grasshoppers and crickets. I swear. I am not making that up.

Scary creepiness aside, it's rather beautiful, isn't it?

Wowwwwwwwwww, great close-up! I never kill spiders, they're so beautiful and weave those amazing webs. Plus that usually take care of those pesky flies and gnats :)
